Les Get is part of the Portes de Soleil ski area which covers both Swiss French resorts. The Les Gets ski pass is twinned with Morzine. Situated between Geneva Lake and Chamonix, Les Gets dates back to the 12th century and is a charming, authentic village, commited to eco-tourism and ideal for families.
Skiing & Boarding
The ski area consists mainly of blue and red runs. There is an area known as "The Bowl" to which numerous ski runs and chairlifts feed into. Situated in this area is the resort's most easily accessible black run, 'Yeti', via the chairlift La Rosta. Mt chery has the majority of black runs, also having some red runs. It is said to be the "locals" mountain, les Chavannes being the tourist side.
Beginners
The blue runs above Super-Morzine provide plenty of confidence-building cruising terrain. From Pléney drop off the backside of the ridge and follow a long, gentle blue run down into Les Gets. Beginners take it easy on the plateau at the top of the Chavannes bubble and the runs down from there into the village. There’s plenty of space there for first time sliding and a couple of bars and restaurants are handy.
Intermediate
There are only a few black runs but strong skiers will enjoy the bumps down the Yeti - under the chair of course - and down the north and east of Mont Cheri. You can also burn a lot of energy doing fast sweeping GS turns down the wide and open red runs.
Advanced
From the other side of Morzine, linked by a free road-train, a side-by-side gondola and cable-car rise to Pléney. Blue, red and black runs served by a sequence of chair-lifts, all lead back over the undulating pastureland to the town.
Off Piste
If skiing via Morzine to Avoriaz (2 hours), runs such as “The Wall” and limitless off-piste make it well worth the effort. Alternatively a 20 minute bus transfer to Prodain also opens up the skiing of Avoriaz. There are several good spots for off-piste skiing and snowboarding, the best of which are; to the sides of 'Yeti', the long black run off Mt Chammossiere and also by taking a short hike from the top of the Ranfoilly lift. the latter has been rated as one of the best off piste powder bowls in europe (although there is very often a high chance of avalanches).
Snowboarders
On the north-western side of Les Gets, a gondola and a chair lead up to Mont Chéry; where the snowpark is located. It has 4 tables of 5 to 12 m, 1 hip, 4 bars et 1 box and
1 boarder cross. This was said to be updated during 2007.
Towns and Villages
As part of Portes de Soleil, Les Gets is linked with Abondance, Avioraz, Chatel, Morzine, Champery, Morgins, La Crosets, Montriond, Torgon and Saint-Jean Des Aulps. There is a market on a Thursday and a cheese making farm.
